Catalina Ski Race
The Catalina Ski Race, known as "The World's Greatest Ski Race," will enjoy its 66th run on July 19, 2014.
And with its start and finish line near the Queen Mary, the World's Greatest Viewing Area for the World's Greatest Ski Race is aboard the Queen Mary. Enjoy Bloody Marys, Mimosas and breakfast in the sun.
With its rich 66-year history, quality of competition, and challenge of the open ocean, water skiers from around the globe come to participate in this unique challenge to compete across 62 miles of ocean to Avalon and back.
And in case you are wondering, there are 19 different classes in which to participate - from novice to expert and two different starting categories - boats that are 21 feet long or smaller and boats between 21 feet and 43 feet.
For comparison, The Queen Mary is 1,019.5 feet.
