18th Annual Long Beach Christmas Tree-Lighting Ceremony
Wednesday, December 7, 2011 - Pearl Harbor Day
5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
The Sundeck of the Queen Mary
1126 Queens Highway, Long Beach, CA 90802
Now in its 18th year, this family-friendly Long Beach tradition is free to attend. Along with complimentary refreshments and parking, guests will enjoy seasonal songs from roaming Victorian carolers and a preview of the ship’s new holiday light display. Additional sounds of the season will be provided by Coro De Los Cantos Bellos from Flowing Wells Junior High in Tucson, Arizona under the direction of Jose “Chach” Snook and accompanied by Dr. David Gale; and the International Children’s Choir of Long Beach and the 186th Street Elementary School Chorus under the direction of Stephen Bullard.
Santa will arrive about 7pm, and with the help of Long Beach Police Chief Jim McDonnell and Long Beach Fire Chief Alan Patalano, will light the holiday tree located on the Sundeck stage at the stern of the ship. Parents are encouraged to bring a camera as children will have the opportunity to visit with Santa following the last musical performance.
All attendees are encouraged to drop off one unwrapped children’s gift to support Toys for Tots, Sparks of Love and the Long Beach Toy Patrol, but toy donations are requested, not mandatory.
